| Distinguishing one Christian church
from another is difficult. Our statements of faith
are similar. However, the churches comprising the
Body of Christ do have different emphases.
Portland Bible Church is all about teaching.
Our (singing) worship is limited to about
10 minutes per one hour session and is not rock and
roll, nor electric, but traditional. This is
because our emphasis is less about the entertainment and
more about the biblical accuracy of
lyrics.
Our lessons are lectures, presented
by a pastor trained in the languages and historical
context of Scripture and gifted by the Holy Spirit. We go through verse by
verse, revealing the Holy Spirit's intentions for our
spiritual edification.
While many churches
emphasize counseling, we believe in the privacy,
self-determination, and spiritual growth of the
individual believer. Growing in the grace and
knowledge of Christ, we're able to endure life's
challenges on our own. |
